reader question of the week #2

“I am desperately searching for a “theme” for my non-birthday party this summer.  I want to do outdoor (given my planters/deck/yard was thinking rustic Italian) grown-up party.  Events with our friends always tend to be families and casual… I want to make this a little more grown up… and while it will be VERY close to my birthday, I don’t want that to be the focus. I need to do it for a reasonable amount but not too cheap.  I am struggling with decor, theme, games or activities…help! thank you, jennifer”

  1. Why not have a pizza making party with some grown up toppings, parma ham, roasted atrichokes etc!

  2. Kim says:

how about a rustic italian garden theme – guests can make homemade bird seed balls, you can decorate with herbs, plants, fruits and veggies- each guest can bring a plant, if they chose for your “non bday bday” present. you can interject the pizza making (like suggested above” Use empty tomato sauce cans (the ones that look vintage) as vases, etc. best of luck planning! hugs!

  3. fee says:

Add some light italian wines and for flowers…sunflowers. Keep to maybe a blue and yellow theme color and if you would like a small thank you for coming gift, how about starting basil plants in a clay pot that you paint?

  4. Owen Bell says:

we use mixed nuts as bird seeds when we are feeding our pet birds”;”

  5. we always use sunflowers as our bird seed’”‘

  6. bird seeds should be choosen so that they are 100% organic and does not contain genetically modified stuffs *
